Something was not right here....
He moved his body, surprised at the fact he had a body after what happened to him. He was on something hard, something that had been sitting in the sun for too long now. He groaned and opened his eyes a crack...then all the way. There was a sky above him, only it seemed to have a moon larger and closer than he remembered it. When did that happen? Was he still dead? Was this what it felt like, if so? What a strange thing...
To test, Jerome lifted a finger and poked himself in the left eye. "Ow! Hhhhhhehehehehee..."
The short chuckle was dry, yet very gleeful. Dead people don't feel pain, so it stood to reason that he was very much alive. He ran his finger over his neck and was delighted to feel that there were no scars there.
He groaned and sat up, seeing he was sitting on a street. The city he was in certainly looked like Gotham... But it was different! Everything seemed a little wider here and took up more space. How odd...
Jerome stood to his feet sharply, and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Welp! Knowledge ain't gonna come running to me, I suppose."
With that, he began to walk away from the area.

Claire felt like she had been walking for hours now, yet she knew that it had only been three minutes since she'd woken up from her strange slumber. This place was almost completely empty! It wasn't possible for a city to be empty, let alone only have her there. Perhaps there was someone inside these empty looking buildings. The woman pouted and peered inside what looked like a bar from it's window. She couldn't seem to see a soul within. She sighed and kept walking down the sidewalk. And that was when she spotted the first person all day, traveling towards her coincidentally. She immediately began to walk towards him, her heels clicking on the pavement with each elegant step. No matter how terrible she felt, Claire always liked to walk with dignity.
"Um, Hello?" She said to the boy, with a strange hairstyle and a small, creepy grin. He seemed younger than her, possibly eighteen or nineteen years old...far above Zack's age at least. He was definitely taller than her too, by an inch or so. Claire distantly wondered if he was in college, or had skipped and gone on to jobs. He certainly didn't look employed in all honesty. "Do you know where everyone else is? Or why I'm in an empty city?"

Jerome was concocting a devious plan(which consisted of stealing spray paint from a store and drawing smiles all over town) when he heard:
He looked curiously towards the voice and a saw a woman strutting towards him, wearing high heels and apparently expensive make-up. He felt that crazy part of his brain vibrate with glee: he could easily snap this woman's neck or frighten her to death if he wanted. Unfortunately, he realized that killing her would most likely leave him stranded here in this stupid empty town he once knew as Gotham. No, first he would accompany her and give her a false sense of friendship...if enough people came, THEN he might kill her. But first things first...
"ooooh La Laaa! Heh Heh Heeeeh!" Jerome put on one of his grins that occurred so often, and took a friendly step toward her. When she neared, he could tell she was at least twenty nine or in her early thirties, yet still somehow good looking. Jerome had surmised that he didn't have time for girls long ago however and besides, she was too old for him. Still, he was a sucker for attempting to flatter women. "Hi there, Gorgeous!...'Fraid I don't know much about where we are exactly. For all I know, we died and...went somewhere! Heh."
To avoid too much thought into that, he added: "Th' name's Jerome Valeska! What's your name, Gorgeous?"

Clare's eyebrow twitched a little at his question, and more so at his nickname: 'Gorgeous'. He was awful bold for a young man, slightly annoying but definitely bold. The woman shifted her weight one leg and place her hands on her hips. "Well, it's not Gorgeous...It's Claire. Just Claire."
It didn't sate her curiosity at all that he had no idea where they were, and she grew a bit more annoyed. Whoever had the Idea of such a sick prank was simply stupid. Claire glanced at Jerome once more and walked over to a nearby restaurant of some kind, not surprised that it wasn't locked at all. Upon stepping inside, she was greeted with the sight of coffee posters all over the walls and the smell of coffee beans in the air and tiny tables/chairs scattered out over the floor. Perhaps this was an abandoned starbucks, a place that probably shouldn't be left unattended. Still, she knew she would have to wait until she found signs of other people in this mysterious place...then she would consider owning the small café. Not to mention hiring people to help her out with it. Maybe even Jerome wouldn't mind.
"Well...I guess I'd better make myself some coffee." Claire grimaced. "This is gonna be a long day."

"Oooooh, Sassy...HHHHeheheeee..." Jerome murmured under his breath at her statement and posture. This lady was going to be loads of fun to hang around and annoy from time to time. He may take a quick exit at some point in order to better explore his new world, now that he was alive and all. Once Clairemont set her sights on a nearby coffee shop, Jerome was swift to follow her inside like some bored puppy.
It wasn't very funny to Jerome when he saw the store looked intact on the inside and yet every known person was gone from their places. No customers, no clerks, no managers and not even a single armed robber in sight. This would get boring if more people didn't arrive soon. He tuned in just in time to hear Claire comment on how she needed coffee for the long day ahead of her. Surprising himself, he nodded in agreement and cleared his throat.
"I'd appreciate a little batch for myself too." Jerome sat down at a table behind, fondly gazing at the lady. "I'm not exactly partial either, Gorgeous."

" Gorgeous is a funny way to pronounce Claire, Mr.Chuckles." The redhead shot back at him, entering the kitchen in the back. There were coffee beans and a grinder and a dozen filters and pots, which still somehow baffled Claire. Of someone was here, that would have explained the items before her...and yet this place seemed empty, if one were not to include the smiling Ginger. With a shrug, Claire got busy properly mixing in the boiling hot water and then grinding the beans up. It was only half of ten minutes later that the woman was finished with her job, and had made quite a nice aroma.
Hmmm...Maybe I should be the manager of this place. Claire mused in her head, and scooped up a cup in one hand and the pot in the other.
When she walked back out towards Jerome, she cleared her throat. "Well, you said you weren't partial, so I got caffeine. Don't know why, since I'm going to awake for the rest of this day anyways...but you can never be too safe, I guess."
